Re: stereo widening on send and returns?
Hey Buzby! long time mate
been looking out for you on skype recently.
re: stereo widening....
I'd probably group the instruments you want to widen, rather than use send/return.
I'd use the eq8 in M/S mode to cut/boost.... probably to scoop out some mid-range in the mid, and add some mid-high frequency to the side.
Also try out using a simple delay in 'time' mode with super-short delay times... different for left and right... something like 1.00ms for left and 8.00ms for right, and then experiment with the dry/wet and feedback.
This is good for adding dimension, rather than stereo widening, but i kind of put those two techniques in the same spacial-mixing basket.
take care mate.
Matt

Re: stereo widening on send and returns?
Filter delay
1. turn off center L/R channel
2. Turn off filters on L and R channels
3. Turn L and R channel to time mode, use very short time.
4. Turn off feedback.
5. 100% wet

Re: stereo widening on send and returns?
thanks blue sky - i know this setting for the filter delay
hey matt - how are you? good i hope - seen you on skype - i ll give you a call soon
thanks for the advice too
found this http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/mix ... reo-image/ but it had nothing about using it on sends and returns
talk soon mate

Re: stereo widening on send and returns?
put a pin pong on a return turn off the sync set the time to 8.80ms, wet 100,feedback on your own taste.
put a chorus on another return,100 wet, other parameters on your own taste.
send signals to both untill you are happy, but agood starting point is around -30 to -20db.
for low end freq stuff try to split the frequency to lower than 200hz,and higher than 200hz,and dont put any widener to lower than 200hz cause will destroy the energy flow of the track.
