trigger clips via audio level?

Hi all

I'm wondering if someone has gone ahead an made a patch for this (honestly I don't have the programming chops yet, still a beginner):

I'd like to be able to (randomly) switch between audio clips on a track by using an audio input (microphone).
So if for example I thump the table that the mic is on, the current audio clip changes. I imagine the best way in is to look at targeting the follow actions for the clips or something, but beyond that don't really know where to start.

I guess there might be a way to do this without even using Max, but I'm stumped.

Any suggestions or pointers appreciated.

you just need a basic envelope follower connected to the correct LOM commands to clip-switch/launch. everything is actually ready for you in m4l examples. e.g. Max5/patches/m4l-patches/Tools reources/M4L.envfol~.maxpat and then the built in m4l lessons in live also have some clips plumbing.
