Yesterday I noticed that my laptop was making a glitchy buzzy noise upon launching EVERY clip (incidentally it is exactly the same noise I get if I pull the plug out and it switches to battery power whilst Live is playing audio).
I gave it a restart to see if that sorted it out and it did... for a while. Then I started getting these noises but only occasionally on clip launch.
I have played out with Live 4.11 several time with few problems. Though once my screen froze completely mid-set for about 5 seconds but thankfully the audio continued throughout.
I'm confused about this new problem I'm getting and am a little concerned about it. The only thing I'm doing differently is sending a midi clock signal out of a midi port to sync up a machine. Could this be causing my problems?

Did a few experiments and found the following...
It happens more when there are lots of clips on the run suggesting processor or hard disk.
The CPU meter is still only about 20 - 30%. With more clips on the go you can sometimes see a cpu spike accompanying the glitch.
Confusing part is that I've played out several times with Live with no problems. Is it because my set is getting more complex (even if not playing more stuff at any one time)?
Final thing I tried.....
Pulled out the network cable (networked to my desktop for file transfer). It hasn't done it since (haven't tested extensively was late last night). Fingers crossed, I'm hoping this isn't a coincidence. Kinda explains things cos when I play out it's not networked.
Question is: is a network enough to mess up an otherwise finely tuned machine that much?
