Keyboard shortcuts with midi controller - possible?

Post by x0b » Sat Nov 06, 2010 6:25 pm

I've got a Novation remote zero SL and was wondering if I could assign the terrible drum pads on it to some of live's keyboard shortcuts, such as duplicate, consolidate and delete. Does anyone know of a way I could do this?

On OS X, my preferred tool for this is QuicKeys. The beauty of it is that it can set to be always on in the background without using up any cpu. No need to remember to have it on while using Live. Also you can set up MIDI to keyboard shortcut assignments that are specific to a particular midi controller (and midi channel) and even which application it pertains to. Not only that, you can assign midi to automator scripts, applescripts, menu items without keyboard shortcuts like freeze track, flatten, slice to midi, consolidate...etc.

Some very helpful suggestions here, thanks all. Looks like either Automap or Quick keys will do exactly what I need.
