Visual Metronome for User 2 on Launchpad
Visual Metronome for User 2 on Launchpad
similar i'm guessing to the launchpad step sequencer. anyone seen one around?
i have been uisng the step sequencer as a metronome but thought it would be great if the first beat could be a different colour to the others, jsut an idea.
sorry, i'm not max builder so cant offer anything, but couldnt help asking around incase someone thought about jumping on board. i'd love to learn.

You don't have to use max or anything. Just read the LP's programmer's reference, and send the correct midi notes and velocities to the LP.

I told you it has nothing to do with max !

The only thing is you have to do a dedicated midi track for the metronome, track out to the LP, and of course enable LP as a tack input in the prefs.

however, when you route midi notes out to launchpad they light up various pads regardless of which mode you are in (session, user 1, user 2 etc) and since i am using the session view and user one for other functions, i figured a desirable feature would be that a m4l visual metronome would appear on user 2, in the same way the launchpad seq does.
i was just wondering how hard it would be to hack into the seq patch to mod it so it just counts 4 pads and the bottom.
thanks for the ideas tho.

is it possible to make the visual metronome on the 4 arrow keys? then it wouldn't matter which mode you're in cause it's always just going to be the notes that correspond to the 4 arrow keys..rude_NHS wrote:i understand this as i have tried this in the past (see this http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=134027)chapelier fou wrote:I told you it has nothing to do with max !![]()

You mean on the user 2 button, not mode?
If so, just check what note it outputs ? Sorry i'm drunk again.

Which row of the Launchpad in User Mode 2 do you want to display the metronome, and in what division, 8ths, 1/4s?

Sorry, but just check the corresponding midi notes in the LP's programmer's reference, and make them blink with a midi clip. Don't need max.

Re: Visual Metronome for User 2 on Launchpad
i kind of hoped that this would be an interesting small project and wouldnt seem like much of a task for more experienced max programmers. i've tried various methods with using midi clips but i keep stumbling on issues regarding clashes between the various modes.
what i thought of was a patch that outputs the note data to user2 in crotchets with the fist beat lighting up red and the others yellow or something.

Here is a basic tutorial that explains how to light up the various buttons in M4L which may solve your issue of the different modes:
