Kaoss Pad slaved to Ableton BPM...
Hello,
I am having a hard time figuring out how to get the kaoss pad to automatically change its bpm in correlation to a pre-set bpm on a scene withing Live.
Does anybody know how to do this?
Ive tried [shift-4] and changed the clock to ext and ive tried auto and i get nothing. The kaoss pad is visible in the midi tab withing Live. I use the scene buttons to set bpm when i change tracks so i would like to see it communicate the tempo change to the kaoss pad 3. I have it connected via USB right now.
Thanks for your time in advance.

Have you turned on sync for the kaospad in preferences?
- Well... but no!

trust me... it wont work well enough to perform.
abletons sync is very bad and the kaoss pad connected drifts up and down by -3/+3bpm (sometimes more....)

When we use it we manually set the BPM's on both Live and the Kaos pad and sync manually (no MIDI sync). Not ideal, but it works.

fair enough... if that works for you... but that could be dangerous if it drifts too much over time...

We don't experience much, if any, drift between the Kaoss pad and Live using this method.benjamingordon wrote:fair enough... if that works for you... but that could be dangerous if it drifts too much over time...

How does your guy's setup drift? I didn't really notice that much of a drift. I change the bpm every 4 minutes on average so how bad can it drift within that average of time?
someone should put up a video just to show the setup process and the end result.

I sync my kaoss pad 3 to live when I play and have almost no issues with drifting. Make sure you check sync in live's midi preferences and select ext sync on the kp3. I mostly use my kp3 for stutters and tempo synced delays and have no problems staying in time.

ok fair enough.
ill try again. maybe its got better with recent versions of live..
do you use it for master fx from live or mic/inst fx before you go into live?

I depend on the Lfo's and some delays. So I guess they would be called post ableton fx. I'm try to figure out NOW how to have the program memory change by system ex? I need more than 10 programmer settings. I should probably start another topic.

Re: Kaoss Pad slaved to Ableton BPM...
so do you have you audio out of ableton going into the kaoss pad?
ive tried syncing it and it seems ok...
it drifts a little... and the tempo button flashes out of time slightly.. but the audio seems more in time...
i use as for fx on my mic... its annoying as some fx are better in ableton but some are better in the kaoss...
maybe there are plans for a KP4...
