The best thing about Cubase - dual monitor support, arrange on one page, mixer view on second screen.

Screen 1 put your arrange page

Screen 2 put one of your mixer configurations
Config 1 - extended mixer with EQ curves

Config 2 - Extended Mixer with extended metering

Config 3 - 2 mixers - 1st mixer = audio channels. 2nd mixer = MIDI, VST and Group channels.

Cubase has good features, but it looks so damn ugly, incedibly tasteless...

Cubase looks delicious. All those colours are inspiring. Live's GUI looks just fine, where's the better skin editor?

I've used Cubase for years, long before Live, it's excellent at what it does and looks great too, Live's a different kettle of fish, excellent at what it does and looks great too, horses for courses.

Studio One is promising but still lacks some of the functionality of more developed DAWS, I expect as it evolves to about version 3 that it will be a killer DAW.
This DAW is an awful lot of bang for your buck, and offers great integration with Presonus hardware.

Cubase has always been pretty, I even recall the Atari version being pretty cool to look at, all be it monochrome and midi only. Although I preferred Midi Studio Master; that program kicked arse in the Atari( imagine one day if we could record audio using just a computer ) days.
