Midi Learn Controller Mapping

Post by Tv Lab » Wed Oct 27, 2010 11:10 pm

I did some research and couldn't find anything related to my query. I use a custom midi mapping with the midi learn function on an mpd 24 and fcb1010. I have successfully mapped them, though I dont understand why its necessary to have to reach the max and min value with each control before ableton registers the controls. This happens every time I open a different project. For ease of use and smooth workflow this seems quite backwards, and I sense theres an easy enough solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Under Preferences->MIDI, what do you have set for Takeover Mode? You'll want either "none" or "value scaling" selected if you want immediate control of any parameter. "None" will immediately set the parameter to match the value from your controller, while value scaling will meet it more gradually. Under "pickup" mode, your controller won't effect the parameter until it reaches the current value of that parameter.

Thanks a lot man, did the trick. Value scaling seemed to be the smoother option.
