Hard Hitting Drum Samples

Does anyone know a good sample set that has Acoustic Kicks/Snares that sound like they are being smacked and played really hard?

I'm trying to get some sounds like the beginning of these songs. Really looking to get that tone and character and not just having loud samples.

Obviously it would be best to just record someone actually playing but I'm really trying to achieve similar sounds through programming. Sounds from drum modules like BFD/EZ drummer aren't cutting it for me and I can't seem to find the right samples in my mass library... I have tried getting results through filter mods/pitch mods/amplification and distortion/rooms but it still doesn't sound appealing to me.

Any references to samples or tips would be appreciated.

sample the track that has the stuff in it you like but can't find???

Take those sampled samples and make them into something that is yours???

Also, Goldbaby has some pristine hard hitting samples. I recomend them over all others I have found in the last years.

I've considered sampling from songs I like but I guess I'm seeking more pure/dry samples so I could apply my own room and processing.
I just find it odd that I go through a lot of acoustic sample sets and the loudest hit kick/snare isn't nearly the dynamic of the type of sound I'm looking for. Even in heavily velocity layered samples sets.


Thanks for the advice and I'll try checking out the Goldbaby Samples. I have their 808 sound sete and love them.

The hard 'smack' is created more by compression than by how hard the drums are being played. Try downloading the free 'RoughRider' plugin and drop this on any drum track to get a similar result.
