When I´m composing a piece in the Arrangement mode, I have to often
import clips of different lenghts to different tracks.
I wonder if Ableton has created (or creating) a spesific tool which helps
the user to set the starting points of different clips exately where he wants.
How I do this at the moment is just to zoom the area/clips I´m working with and
try to fine adjust/move the clips (click + alt) with the mouse. But this is very
much trial/listening-re-adjusting process - I believe there could some better and
more precise way to do this. H.
How to set the starting point of clips in the Arrangement?

Set the start marker in the clip, just the same as using Session view. If I understand correctly what it is you're asking.

The start marker line won´t show the absolute location of the clip. E.g. if youmassenmedium wrote:Set the start marker in the clip, just the same as using Session view. If I understand correctly what it is you're asking.
open 3 tracks in the Arrange and put a clip to each of them, different places in the
time ruler e.g. locations 6, 7,2, 8,1 , the sample editor line won´t tell you the
clips location related to each other. Therefore changing the start marker in the sample editor is as much trial and error as is the moving the clip.
I´m looking for a way whis is not guessing but a absolute value which helps to set
the starting point of different clips exately where you want to.
BTW, an other feature of the Live which is in my mind too robust and based on the "guessing" is the volume automation: how to set exact volume number to selected bit, using the draw tool is very robust way. Can I set the somehow the exact automation value?
Perhaps what I write above is just lack of experience, I´m grateful if someone informs me how to do things better. H.
