delay in recording while using vst / vsti

Post by Nikocat » Sun May 01, 2005 7:16 pm

I have conducted this test on 3 computers with the same result. There
is a delay invoked every time i create a new clip using vsti 's or
channels with vst fx.

here is one example on how i found this problem

1. start with a new set. (for this ex. use clip view)
2. open a vsti on a midi track. (i used battery 2)
3. use a simple patch, like a kick drum and make a clip that has 4
beats, one bar long

4.on an audio track set input from midi/vsti, and arm it.
5. press a blank audio clip to start recording.
6. analyse the clip that was made by zooming all the way in to the start.

Here is the problem: the kick sample is late by aprox. 2 milliseconds.

This happens also when i "resample" or "render"

Some people might think a few milliseconds is negligable but it bothers me
each time you resample its going to get worse. also it creates phase problems and makes compressors overshoot.

does anybody else have this problem?
thanks

yea I mentioned this in the general forum before. It must be a PDC issue. Happens with most if not all vsti's I think and this is without effects. [/list]

yes, very annoying and still unsolved - Here is the thread about it in the gerenal forum.
