small value shifting when creating automation points

Post by mr.ergonomics » Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:49 am

hi, I just curious if you have this problem too. I experience it since ages in live but I can't take it anymore -
always adjusting is driving me nuts. :-)
so maybe I just don't get it? or do you have the same problem.

- create an automation lane for the value parameter from a utily plugin
- double click on the lane to create an automation point

-> if your mouse cursor is a bit below or above the automation lane however the colour indicates it's selected you get a small value shift.

I have that problem too. Annoying, huh? There needs to be some kind of optional snap grid. Sort of like drawing in CAD programs.

yep old issue.. actually i should put it into my detail problem list..

ther is actually a grid that is causing the problem,--dependent on the zoomstage the new value snaps here or there..

but of cause it should keep the old value aslong the user is not starting to move it around and esecially should allow to go back to the original value.. that actualy is eating a lot of time when dealing with the envelopes.

would be also beneficial if there would be a key one can press while moveing the point that is making it fine resoulution while ..
moving ..

at least they show now a value while moving it..in eralier versions we dont even had that.... however a litle info window wouldnt hurt that shows the vlues hust by hovering above the points withut touching them..

the help window box no long time user is needing anyway to the left could be used for that...

this is a good example why i thought a thread to collect detail problems would be usefull..

how many years users work with this little detail problem now`?..since L1? or L1.5 ?

it gets in our way on a daily base, but its too little to think about 10 minutes later.. nobody talks about it ..and so it stays in the program for years and years up to the moment it feels really anoying.. and when this happens at 100 differnt points of the program like this..the whole usage experiance is suffering badly.. slowly building up over time..

therfore its important that such details get cleaned out once in a while, and not allow them to build up in number
with any new feature like dust in a dark corner...

L9 should be a spring cleaning release, not only one that compensates with even more fantastic features for the miserable L8 time..

L9? How about L8.5 that adds no new actual features, but just finishes off the semi implemented stuff thats wierd, borked etc, even if it not actually a tracked bug (because it was intended to be obscure/not thought through etc).
Nothing to see here - move along!
