Nope, not the only one. I use Live solely in arrangement mode, mainly for complex MIDI but also vox/guitar and find it way faster to use than Logic, Cubase or Pro Tools which I also own.Earwax69 wrote:Im I the only one to really dig the arrangement view in Live? I come from Cubase/reason and now I only use the Live in arrangement mode to construct my songs. everything is just efficient. (well maybe except the lack of advanced midi tools, but I can live with that.)

It's not as deep though as what you can do in arrangement with those other DAWS and the GUI (IMO) is not as good, especially for use on dual monitor systems where with (Cubase's workspaces for example), you can put the arrangement on one monitor and mixers/plugins or whatever else on the second monitor.
Many people who use 2 DAWS prefer the arrangement view in their other DAW compared to Live. For me, Session is the quick and easy part of Live, Arrangement is OK but lacks some features of other DAWS.

M0AR VC0!!!111!!!!!111 seriously. you have no hardwarez. it would add a lot of sonic character to anything you do.Jersey Garcia wrote:I currently run Ableton Live 8, NI Komplete 6 (Kontakt 4, Reaktor 5.5, Battery 3, Absynth 5, Massive, FM8), Stylus RMX, and Trilian. I've got a MOTU Ultralite, APC40, Korg Padkontrol, Novation ReMote SL 37, and Monome 128.
I'm thinking about Logic Studio or Omnisphere. Also considering Max for Live (likely just in addition to Logic).
Any thoughts? I know Omnisphere is amazing, but it'll be more of a toy in my opinion, versus Logic being a useful tool for recording/mixing.
What would you buy and why?
Something with two VCO's would really be ideal, lots of programming options and detuning etc. Under $1000: Yamaha CS-15, SCI Prophet 600, Roland SH-2, MFB Kraftzwerg etc. etc. Or in the $1000-2000 range you get really cool stuff like Future Retro XS, Korg MS-20 etc. etc.
Even some DCO stuff or single OSC stuff would be better than just 100% ITB. You don't need to go all gearslutz about it but I think at least one or two pieces of analog gear is pretty damned useful if not essential.
Anyway, getting Omnisphere when you already have Komplete seems a bit redundant synthesis wise. And Logic is a whole new very time consuming can of worms of you arent experienced in it...
