I was thinking any day now we could see some Logitech type universal remote apps for your entertainment center. :)

But then realized that wouldn't work unless all your components had internet connectivity because idevices don't send out a RF signal (or whatever the fuck that signal is that remotes use). :x

But on the apps that do control things like iTunes it would be nice if you could use the actual hardware volume controls on the side of the idevice to control the volume instead of the touch screen slider because that can be a little jumpy in level.

I don't mean it's jumpy as in it loses connection and suddenly flies up or down in volume. I mean a slight slide of the finger can make a big difference given a slight delay and small space. If you could use the push buttons it could move up or down in a set increment with each click.

Still trying to figure out what is so awesome about AirPlay. If I can stream media to my AppleTV (and I hope my Macs?) then the same content is already on those devices, in fact more content given the drive size limitations of the idevices.

Meh, maybe I live and work in too much of a bubble because I guess this might be useful if I worked in an office full of Apple hardware or had friends who also have an Apple-centric crib. But as far as my home use this is like zero value added for me. More useful is just using the Remote app.

More LOL Apple rumor based competitor crushing

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10 ... sales.html

:x <- competitor

:x <- another competitor

:P <- Apple user at competitors

And check out this fact find about the fuckeduptitude of the Android OS and why. It basically says Google is a cocaine distributor that has very little concern of it's impact on the end user. Shit, it even mentions Microsoft as some kind of gold standard by comparison…even props from Jobs himself.

iOS 4.2 rocks. AirPlay is a fucking GODSEND.

Some gripes:
Still no update to iTunes on the iPad which would allow you to have your internet radio stations/playlists like on the full version of iTunes. FAIL.

Changing the screen orientation lock button to the mute button is the BIGGEST FUCKING UBER FAIL IN APPLE HISTORY. A shameful, dimwitted move that was clearly inspired by a late night out with a 75 year old broken down whore.

Multi-tasking. meh. The implementation seems hamfisted. Why the fuck does everything I open stay open? Fail. Maybe I'm not seeing some setting somewhere, but a smarter way to do this would have been: press the home button and you get your entire menu screen of apps to choose from AND a bar at the bottom showing exactly what you've got open. To me, when you press the home button once, that should kick you out and shut that motherfucking app down. Not leave it open. Double tap twice should leave it open but allow you to open something else/switch. meh.

Still don't know why AirPlay is so godsendy, but whatevs. Apple failed to implement this on the old Apple TV which I've concluded they just abandoned. But if all your content is already accessible on your Apple TV from your computer, most likely the same computer you sync your idevice to, then why the fuck would you need to stream it from the idevice?!?

Agree with the radio stations, but there's some apps that support shoutcast and a lot of the streaming itunes stations are available through shoutcast.

There's already outrage and petitions being circulated about the mute/orientation debacle. Hopefully Steve will listen, seems like an easy reversal to make.

Also agree about EVERY app running in the background by default. I suppose that's because that's how computers work but it's a real hassle having to do cleanups and I feel like it's going to start hitting the CPU and causing glitchiness if you don't monitor it. I also noticed in some cases it defeats the purpose, like some content apps when I open them from the background bar instead of opening from where I left off they reload again. Perhaps that's something the developers need to fix.

WHY THE FUCK DOES THE FOLDER BACKGROUND LOOK LIKE FADED BLACK DEMIN JEANS?!? THAT'S THE BEST THEY COULD COME UP WITH? CAN YOU CHANGE THAT? IT REMINDS ME OF NIEL DIAMOND FOR SOME REASON AND ALTHOUGH I LIKE SOME OF HIS TUNES, I DON'T WANT TO BE REMINDED OF LIGHT ROCK OF THE 70'S WHEN I'M PLAYING WITH MY PIECE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY. :x
