For me the automatic mapping of the Launchpad "window" onto the Live session view is okay but in some ways also a bit of a pain. I find myself inserting empty MIDI tracks all over the place to pad things into even blocks of 8 so I can switch between scenes using the session button and have control over a bank of related clips.
What I found myself wanting was a way to "map" a specific set of tracks into a Launchpad "scene". This would allow me to "hide" from the LP tracks that have no bearing on clip launch (e.g. my instrument tracks which are usually driven by a series of related MIDI tracks) without a lot of messing about.
I also really wish there was a way to modify the scene launch button to only affect the clips on display at that point. But that's another wish entirely.
Anyone have any good tips for how they setup their project to make best use of the Launchpad. Jamming with it last night I really wish I had two (or three even).
Thanks.
Matt
Is there a way to map the launchpad better?

Hey there! Might want to check out this thread:

Could have some useful stuff.
As a short answer to your question, I usually put all of the unrelated tracks (instrument tracks, looper tracks, sidechains, etc.) all the way to the right group of 8.
You can also hard map clip slots to User 1 or User 2 if you don't want them to shift at all.
Good luck!

Thanks for the link. It's a long thread so hopefully there will be something useful in there.sexface wrote:Hey there! Might want to check out this thread:

I don't really want to hard-map clips so much as define regions that map to pages without having to pad things to fit. It sounds like it's just not possible with Live right now though.
