Re: r free plugins reliable
King Dubby Delay is a free tape delay AU, and its also my favorite Tape Delay plugin, free or payware.Mr Wednesday wrote:Do you think it's a good idea to use free plugins??
I've found that alot of free plugins aren't free because they are of lesser quality. But instead it has to do with a developer and how much time he/she/they can put into maintaining, supporting, and updating the plugin. Now this can sometimes translate to a less stable plugin, but that is most often not the case.
Automat for example has a couple quirks, some folks wouldn't like the GUI, and there is very little documentation. However, it is FREE, uses very little CPU, and sounds PHENOMENAL! I know a couple plugins out there that are Fischer Price toddler keyboards compared to Automat, but they run $89-$149. And one main reason they cost alot is a designer was paid to make it look pretty, which does invite more people to use a plugin and eventually buy a synth plugin.
So the moral of the story is just cause its free doesn't mean it is any less useful.
Air is free and sunshine is free... i don't think they are any less important because i get a bill from the water company every month.

Hey, they're free! Get them, test them and if they work, use them! Simple as that.Mr Wednesday wrote:Do you think it's a good idea to use free plugins??
