Using multiple loopers (i.e. ESSENTIAL CONFIGURATION post)

Post by ItsAllSticky » Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:12 am

feel like an idiot, but I set up a set just as in the Essential config post I found searching: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=20174
No audio though, here's the problem:

I set up multiple instances of looper, and one audio track with a simple mic in. Monitoring set to "In" on the mic track, all loop tracks monitors "off." All loop tracks set to accept audio from my mic track. Armed all loop tracks using the ctrl+click, when I loop it doesn't seem to record anything. Setting monitoring to "Auto" on any of the loop tracks makes it work just fine, but then I have 5 tracks all monitoring the same signal and the volume gets out of control! I'm sure this is a simple fix, or I missed something stupid, any ideas? In my defense, I upgraded from Live Lite to Live 8 like 30 min ago, gave it the ol' college try, then quickly dropped out. <--art imitating life. TIA

1. Put your Loopers each on a return track

2. Set the Input ->Output (bottom right) of each Looper to "Never"

3. Turn up all the sends on your Mic track.

Done :)

Problem solved! I sent you a gift, but I think I set it to go out to the Master instead of a send track, so you might not get it

Many thanks, Lazos.

Excellent! I have been experimenting with the looper a lot more and this really comes in handy.

Thanks both for the suggested setup (i dumped it as a Template in the Template folder--didn't realize i could do that!) & for sharing the link to the Ableton Cookbook--learning so much with each entry!
