Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+
Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+
I plan on buying the machinedrum SPS-1 UW+ through the Elektron website. Before I make the actual purchase, I thought I'd just ask anybody out there if they are happy with Elektron, their products, service and shipping. For instance, would it make more sense to buy from Sweetwater than to buy direct from Elektron? Are you happy with the Machinedrum's interaction with Live?

Awsome... Yes...
I own it since 1 month and i am amazed..
It will open a whole new world for you. You will no longer browse for hundreds of samples. You will be creating your own.
I found myself quitting live and using more & more the Machinedrum.
The sequencer is perfect... The sound is amazing. I have no experience with its interaction with live. You can check at elektron-users.com , it is the forum of the users, with lots of info and members helping each other.
I did not buy directly from Elektron, but from a local dealer.

Elektron is probably my favorite company, you won't be disappointed. Novamusik.com has their gear for cheapest in the US, typically $50 off Elektron price. That said, I like the fact that all my money goes directly to Elektron when I buy direct, so that's what I do. Also, shipping from Elektron is actually faster than most US based stores, they use a rush courier service so less wait. Be sure to join Elektron-users.com too, TONS of good info there, friendly people as well.

Re: Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+
Absolutely love them but I had one major (known) problem.
The rotarys started skipping data, adjusting values went nearly impossible because of the jumps (ghost jumps).
I always treat my equipment very nice, being real careful with all the knobs and rotaries.
I had to sell my MD-MK1 because of this.
How are these rotaries todays? Do they use exactly the same stuff or have they upgraded their materials for the rotaries? With such a steep price I'm quite anxious to buy a new one if they use the same rotaries.

Never heard of this. Maybe it's a MKI thing ?

There's been a few users who'e had the MD for years and years of daily use that have this issue. Elektron is more than willing to send out replacement encoders for a very good price, or install replacements for you. They have a tech shop in Georgia if you're in the US, so it's not like you'd need to pay shipping to Sweden to get it fixed. Pretty rare occurance though.

Hmm could be, it was a well known problem when I had mine (2-3 years ago).
If it got solved I'm sure I'll be getting the Elektron fever again
Re: Machinedrum SPS-1 UW+
Yeah, problem is I live in Belgium and we don't have an Elektron Tech Shop here for the replacement. Don't know how much it would have costed me to send it back to sweden but probably too muchTarekith wrote:There's been a few users who'e had the MD for years and years of daily use that have this issue. Happy to hear it's a pretty rare problem.
MD UW mk2 just got on my "to-buy-when-I-finally-make-some-money" list again
