"Slice to new midi track" + akai apc40?
"Slice to new midi track" + akai apc40?
is there any way i can rig my apc40 to accommodate my needs of triggering sliced audio? ideally, i'd like to drag in some of my already produced beats, slice to a new midi track and delete the midi notes on this midi track, then record me triggering the sliced up transients with the 40 pads. im only thinking of using it for production at this time, but im down to work with it live if possible. any ideas?

You may need to look at the nativeKONTROL presents for the APC40. I have the present installed for my APC40 but have never really used it that much for production. I am sure that you can put all of your sliced notes into a drum rack and then use the APC40 to trigger the drum rack by using the nice squidgy jelly thingys

I don't think this is what i'm looking for.geddy wrote:You may need to look at the nativeKONTROL presents for the APC40.
Its about time I incorporated drum rack into my set up. To be honest, i've never really looked into drum rack.geddy wrote:I am sure that you can put all of your sliced notes into a drum rack and then use the APC40 to trigger the drum rack by using the nice squidgy jelly thingys
this looks cool but I have Live 8...will I still be able to decompile the .pyc files?33tetragammon wrote:or look here,it's free and does what you want as well :

The APC is perfect for this..I like to slice clips/beats etc to a new midi track and set them up with follow actions, and then midi map them horizontally across the APC like a monome. It's not great for performance because you have to hard map your entire clip launch grid but it's fantastic for production if you can put up with slicing/follow actions/mapping every time you want to use a different audio source.Aweeeezy wrote:is there any way i can rig my apc40 to accommodate my needs of triggering sliced audio? ideally, i'd like to drag in some of my already produced beats, slice to a new midi track and delete the midi notes on this midi track, then record me triggering the sliced up transients with the 40 pads. im only thinking of using it for production at this time, but im down to work with it live if possible. any ideas?
As for recording, you can send the audio to another track and record that, or just resample your master output. Then reslice and do it again! You can get some really cool results.

Yeah, I'm not trying to map the launch grid for every audio source. When it comes to performing, I guess I was hoping for some kind of remote script that emulates something like dr. rex so I could dice up stuff for remixing on the spot.msteele wrote: It's not great for performance because you have to hard map your entire clip launch grid but it's fantastic for production if you can put up with slicing/follow actions/mapping every time you want to use a different audio source.
However, I'm mainly concerned about producing. Geddy suggested drum rack...is there a way to slice to a new midi track and then maybe drag and drop midi notes into a drum rack where they can be played on the apc40 pads? I'm not concerned about using follow actions because i don't require the loop to continue playing after a transient is triggered.

Well the default function of 'slice to new midi track' puts your slices into a drum rack for you, so you're good there. As for triggering the slices, I recommend checking out Hanz Petrov's python scripts for the APC. The latest update adds a step sequencer as well as a multitude of other features that really open up the capabilities of the controller, and of course it has note/user modes that allow you to use your clip launch grid to play midi notes or control drum racks. thanks msteele! i think this is exactly what i'm looking for. So this step sequencer script has different modes, one of which can control my drum racks? I understand I can switch between the apc40s default controls and the 64-40 script in the preferences, but how do I switch between the different modes of the script?msteele wrote: Well the default function of 'slice to new midi track' puts your slices into a drum rack for you, so you're good there.
