Don't think it's dum. Could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Dum was taking a course which required Logic, Digital Damage hates Logic and Apple computers. Dum did not, owned an imac.
Dum hated the ipad, but I doubt he would get into a debate about the "velocity sensitivity" of an app on the ipad as a way to slam it,
maybe, but probably not.

Jordan Rudess is one of the best keyboardists of our time but every video I've seen of his app sounds like the background track to the science videos I used to fall asleep to in high school. And it's really ass ugly. But also around the time it came out I made the decision I didn't need to own every synth app out there just because I can and while his layout is innovative I really don't see that alone bringing some next level shit to my music.
I think the real fun is going to happen when the next gen iPad comes out and of course I'll get one and hopefully by then there'll be a way to MIDI sync 2 iPads together.

I am more interested in the iPad now that I see that the Touchable app works with PC's which is what I have, but still kind of expensive for me and I'm thinking that a tablet PC might be better since I could run Ableton and whatever other programs on it as well. Or even one of those all-in-one PC's with the touchscreen, I think HP makes them.
Either way I will most likely stick with the PC and external hardware for a while. Not that something like an iPad would not be a nice controller to have too, but I'm going to wait around for the prices to go down after the iPad2 comes out, and also see what Microsoft's competing device will bring to the table.
Also, have you guys 'n girls checked this thing out?

I realize the iPad isn't cheap for some people, but some of the people weighing this option are being extremely narrow minded in what they think they can do with it. "I'm just going to get one to run TouchAble." as if that's the only useful thing you can do with it. There's countless other uses and music apps for it and if you have even the slightest case of G.A.S. your accountant will thank you for the price difference between a desktop synth plug-in at $100+ or a similar synth app for $5 - $20 (tops). Even full blown DAW apps are about $20.

Oh I agree, and have been interested in having it for other uses like games and other apps, internet etc, but never really felt the urge until I was looking at the Touchable thread earlier and found that it works with Windows.

Disagree, bro.
1. I dig the sounds. Immensely. I don't think 9th grade science videos. I think of the killer Theremin soundtracks from 1950s scifi movies. Run that motherfucking app through CamelSpace or any number of other AUs/VSTs and you've got a powerhouse of sound.
2. The swirling space shit is annoying, but I've seen a shitload of non-conventional music apps out there and the interfaces are all WRETCHED on one or many levels. They're usually based on some quasi-organic symbolism - like a series of cells or amoebas, or even worse, molecule chains - in which moving the molecule across the screen will generate a sound or connection the molecules via a thin line of protoplasm will generate a sound or God knows what else. There's little or no actually musical reference point at all. I get that they are supposed to be non-conventional in nature, but c'mon. wtf? What's cool about Morphwiz is that it's got some sort of foundation in terms of a scalable instrument reference.
And nevermind syncing two iPads together via MIDI. How's about syncing two or more apps you are running onboard one ipad via CoreMIDI?
We'd know this, if only createdigitalmusic.com would stop posting WORTHLESS SHIT STORIES about some douche who's created his own digital pocket sweep filter out of paper clips and duct tape, and start focusing on the future of digital music: the iPad.
