Ableton + Maschine Live Jam Based Set

Hey, Basically I have recently been revamping the live setup I'm using and integrating NI Maschine more. First a bit of background. I produce in a live gypsy dubstep act so when we perform live I use a laptop which is taking care of beats, basslines and some synths then we have lots of musicians who feature violin, accordion, vocalists, harp, guitar etc. So in my current live set I have a whole load of exported stems from all out tracks which of course are already mixed down. I also have Maschine running with additional beats, bass and synths for a more jam based approach. This has been working very well so far the only thing that I am having trouble deciding upon is the best way to make sure the mix sounds ok live. For example if I load a kit up in Maschine the volumes are not going to be immediately right in the mix. I mean obviously I have a few ideas how to sort this but I just wanted to put it out there see what advice anyone could offer. Oh yeah best mention my current routings out of Maschine. I have one channel in Ableton for each of the following out of Maschine; drums, sub bass, mid bass, synth, pads. I also have all the stems from finished tracks running through a Multiband compressor and a limiter as they have been exported after mixdown to -4ishdB.

Wow, the live set sounds really interesting man, anything online?

As to your problem, I'm not sure there's any easy way around it. I guess your best bet is to properly mixdown each 'kit' you plan on using with maschine so the overall volume is the same each time.

You could also try grouping the inputs and compressing the bus track.

Anyway guess you've prob thought of this already - sorry no better ideas!

Yeah I kinda figured as much. Its always so hard trying to balance the preparation with the live creation side. I like to try and keep everything as fluid as possible but alas there is always prep required. Thanks for your input. Got some of our stuff up but nothing much live just the one radio show.
