Today I recorded vocals for a song that is going to be used in a play. We took several takes and experimented, rearranged, mixed and bounced the whole tune in 50 minutes. We were content with the result. All was done in Live.
MBP OSX 10.6.8, Live 8.4, MFII, Evolver, Monomachine, Octatrack, APC40, Launchpad

Edit: I don't know what the OP is referring to but for me...
The lack of proper track comping, slip/snap tools with shortkeys beyond just slip or grid, automation curves and a decent arrangement page etc. make Live a pain and a boxy experience for tracking vocals especially and instruments in general.
The thing that gets missed is how superior we feel Live is in so many ways to other DAWs, and how much we prefer writing in it. That's why it sucks to not have basic DAW features, because I personally don't want to use another DAW at all. Huge inconvenience. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Re: today i used Live to track vocals
I know it's a slippery slope to call for Live to be all things to all people, and it has to stay true to it's original mission of being a live performance tool. For instance, I do not support calls for more instruments and sampled content, that's what I buy hardware and plugins for. I'm interested in workflow improvements, why I use a DAW in the first place. So making Live compete with traditional DAW's is tricky because that means different things to different people and could distract from stability and live use. That said, sometimes I'd like Ableton to just kick the hell out of the competition. It's not that I mind using more than one DAW, I just really prefer working in Live.
