How to use a keyboard to play/launch/edit effects?

Post by kambor » Fri Dec 24, 2010 9:44 am

Hello everybody!

I'm trying to midi map my keyboard (just keys, without pots or faders) so I can have a layout like this:

octave 1: navigate buttons (up,down, left, right), and clip control (launch, stop).
octaves 2 and 3: normal midi keys, to play synth
octave 4: effects on/off

Does anyone if this can be done, and how?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,
Surely you know about the MIDI mapping mode (Ctrl/Cmd-M) - you can map MIDI CCs and Note on/offs to the on/off-button of your devices to turn them on and off. (lots of on/off going on in this sentence)
Navigation, though - that's a more difficult chapter. I'm using an APC40 with a nativeKONTROL script running through the Bome MT Player to have a mouse- and keyboard-free navigation.
If I got the concept right (never tried writing my own scripts for this), Bome's Midi Translator translates your MIDI CCs and Note on/offs to keyboard commands, so you can write an own navigation script.

Could be there's an easier way though.
