Audio problems with Pioneer DJM-2000 setup

Post by shere.kaan » Sat Dec 11, 2010 6:38 am

Hi everyone. I just got myself a Pioneer DJM-2000. I'm very excited to use this with my Ableton Live setup and my Novation Launchpad. What's great about the DJM-2000 is that there's a built in USB sound card which allows 4 stereo channels at 16 bit or 6 stereo channels at 24 bit. My problem is that although I am able to get sound out of Ableton, the audio is stuttering and sounds really bad. Here is what I posted on the Pioneer Pro DJ forum:

"I just got my DJM-2000 and I configured it with my MacBook Pro 15" through USB with 4 stereo channels.
I'm using Ableton Live with a Novation Launchpad.
When I play audio from Ableton, I get really bad stuttering from the tracks. I've tried adjusting the Latency Buffer size from 2048 samples all the way down to 0. Audio quality is bad all throughout. Also my in/out sample rate is 44.1K. I've also tried these various settings without the Launchpad connected. Test tone stutters and also iTunes stutters.
Am I doing anything else wrong?"

No one has provided a solution yet. If anyone has any experience with this or suggestions please let me know. I am using Ableton version 8.2.1

Thanks in advance.

You have to increase the buffer size.

Thanks for the reply but this is not helping because I maxed out the buffer size in Ableton Live's preferences... nothing changed. According to a product specialist at the Pioneer Pro DJ forums I'm supposed to use 24bit mode with 48kHz. I won't have a chance to test this out until next week.

decrease completely and work your way up .. also if you are running a mac you can monitor how much memory your compuer is using with the Activity Monitor application... If it is peaking its time to get more memory... and thirdly ground out that sucka... the grounds are very important.
