Saying goodbye to a friend, Leedsquietman passed away.
Re: Saying goodbye to a friend, Leedsquietman passed away.
Shocked and saddened by this terrible news. I think the most interaction I had with Leeds (feels strange to call him his real name, he'll always be Leedsquietman to me) was to post "+1" or "he just summed it all up in that post right there" after his posts. I think if you check the search function for his posts, these are the things that were most often posted after them.
An unquestionably knowledgeable man who always took the time to explain concepts and impart wisdom based on his extensive experience of music and music technology.
Sympathies go out to his family and friends. This community also just lost one of the best ones.

This is shocking and saddening news, I didn't know him personally but I truly appreciated and loved his help on this forum. His shared knowledge and kindness will be here for others to see and through this he will continue to help others who seek help. I've learned a lot from his posts and I'm sure others will for years to come. He was one of the posters who stood out amongst others.
He won't be forgotten, rest in peace.

I've been on this forum for a long time and I can always remember Leeds being around to help people and spread his knowledge.
RIP, you will be missed by many people around the world.

RIP Leeds! You were, and still are, a gentleman. Very sad. My condolences to mrs Brown and family.
Re: Saying goodbye to a friend, Leedsquietman passed away.
as promised here is a link to 2 of the songs leads mastered for us:
http://soundcloud.com/liquidlab
the song I mentioned in my earlier post in this thread is called The Force. Leeds did the solo guitar with heavy distortion. I like the way he chose to accent the lyrics with the stutter that he put on it in some places... not an effect, but with his playing. he also mastered the track for us.
the first song that Leeds mastered for us is the one called Not the First. I sent him a PM with the subject "can i borrow your ears" and was asking for a critique, nothing more. he said he really liked the way we were combining styles and really believed in where we could go with this. he offered to master the track at no charge and did. i paid him anyway, but not before he completely ignored the first 2 or 3 requests for his paypal info. since i started being an amateur producer a few years ago my goal was simply to make one good song all the way through that i could be proud of. when leeds sent this back i had that feeling of accomplishment. i had/have a hard time with my vocals and didn't really believe in myself... but he did.
- thanks again for that Martin. i was so looking forward to your opinion on my latest/post LiquidLab stuff...
see you next life time.

This is very sad. I had a few PM's with him & he was very helpful & really went out of his way recommending plugins, etc.
Always enjoyed his posts & found him to be an informative & knowledgeable contribution to the forum. And even entertaining at times without verging on "annoying" from what I've seen.

could some one please tell us what happened?
i know i didn't know him in real life and this shouldn't bother me but it does.
it would be nice to find out that leedsquitman the internet persona passed but the man is still alive.
this is really confusing.

I am so very saddened to hear this . . . my sincerest sympathies for all who are hurting. The world seems a little darker for his passing.
