Not all released this year but "new listening to me"...
To summarise that's:
Bonobo - Black Sands - Loungey Jazz Electronica. Saw them at Glasto, but was already a fan.
Karnivool - Sound Awake - Metal/Hard Rock. Lovely layers, great songwriting, interesting melodies and timings. Not annoying screamy vocals!
Imagined Village - Empire & Love. 2nd album by English Folk/Fusion supergroup featuring half of Afro Celt Soundsystem and lots of other great artists.
Battles - Mirrored - Art Rock. Loads of live looping and hypnotic guitar and keyboard loops with a proper band.
Younger Brother - The Last Days of Gravity. Came out in 2007. One half of Shpongle's solo project. Brilliant electronica. Just really nice sounding interesting dancy yet chilled stuff.
Portico Quartet- Isla. 2nd album from great modern jazz quartet featuring sax/drums/double bass/hang drum (cool thing that sounds like a cross between a bell and a steel drum). Not convinced it's as good as the 1st album, but still great.
Got a new laptop and recreated my iTunes library so may well have missed an obvious one since my "most played" don't show hardly anything, and my "most played" appears to be "Thank you for the Music" by ABBA, which I swear blind is nowhere close to my most listened to!?!?!??
Have a feeling "5" by Lamb might be one of next years...
