Live 4.1.2 & Tracktion 2 ReWire problems

Post by jalapeno » Thu May 26, 2005 10:42 am

Anyone on a Windows platform got a problem with ReWire ?

We are trying to get to the bottom of a malfunction with Tracktion2 as the ReWire host and Live as the ReWire Slave.

All loads, Live is chronically slow, but there is no sync when the Master Play is pressed. The Master starts rolling but Live is deader than a dead thing. Zombie processes are left after shutting down requiring a reboot.

We have a buddy who has this working fine. It's bugging us no end needless to say.

All polite suggestions welcome ;)

I am on mac osx powerbook but also have a rewire problem with tracktion2, muon bassline synth wont work in live when rewired to traction, perhaps other vst's too ? I use traction as it has the mastering software plug in, similar to reasons new mastering suite, would be great to have something like this in Live ?

That is in the Live doco - if you ReWire Live as a slave all other ReWire or VSTs will be unavailable.

I have a workaround to my problem, which relies on the order of doing things in Traction and Live.

1. Start Tracktion.

2. Create ReWire Filter

3. In Filter Select Ableton Live

4. Start Live

This seems to work reliably - if the filter isn't created and set to Live a worlfd of pain and reboots follow.

What you do isn´t a workaround, it´s the way it is intended to be done.
You also have better to close Live 1st, then tracktion.

BTW I like the user interface of Tracktion very much it´s so easy to handle.
