apc 20 and apc 40 together midi help!

Post by tsitrainbow » Wed Jan 05, 2011 7:40 pm

Hi!

I have a question that will probably require a very simple answer.

I have an apc40 and an apc20. I want to use the control surface standard mapping with the 40, and I wanna use the 20 as a midi mapped controller to control knobs and clips that i have it mapped to.

The problem (as so many of you are probably slapping your foreheads right now, knowing what I'm about to say haha) is that both apcs are on the same midi channel, so my clip boxes, faders, and mute/rec/solo buttons all are mapped to BOTH the 40 and the 20, instead of just the 20.

I do not have my apc 20 hardware disc anymore either, so I need a solution that doesn't involve that! I really just wanna change the midi channel of one of the apcs, but I don't know how to do that!

Also, in my MIDI SETUP preference, my apc 40 is recognized, but the 20 is only recognized as "new midi device". In ableton, the 20 is completely recognized, and if I wanted to, I could use it with the standard control surface mapping.

I hope this is enough info! thanks for your help!!!!

i've got the same problem!

APC40 does it's thing, and as i try to map The APC 20 to trigger varouis other stuff,
the leds on the APC40 do the same thing, as the leds on the 20, and also i controll all the 40's
funktions with the 20... that kinda sucks, right?

Anybody knows what to do there?

apparently this starts messing around as soon, as i activate the remote button
for apc20's out

HELP!

When using the APC40 as a Control Surface, are you able to de-activate its input/output in the MIDI settings? Those are only used for when you map the APC40's controls or use it to play notes. If you turn those off, then Ableton Live (should) ignore the APC40 for anything other than being used as a Control Surface.

After doing that, you ought to be able to freely assign the APC20 with minimal interference.

If however, you do have the APC40's controls mapped to anything, this will not be the most helpful advice :/

OK, thanks for coments,
"yur2die4" you think I should make the Midi (in / out) ports from the APC 40 and 20?
So every track button and Fernst. button, right?
Can I try ...
I love electro!

Only turn the in/out off on the APC 40. Leave it set up correctly as a 'Control Surface' though.

For the APC 20, I would leave the in/out On so that you can assign things.
