** Skrillex Is a BEAST **

Post by junqueira » Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:57 am

Can anyone explain how the beginning of this song was made? The way he remixed those vocals was crazy!

Sounds like vox cut up and played in a sampler. I believe he uses Ableton Live too.

And yes, he is a beast.

compared to 06-08, yes I think it has died. Got any links? I'm always open.

@Necho:- I completely agree, just because a genre gets taken in a direction you don't like doesn't mean the genre is dead. It means that it's also being taken in several different directions which you may like.

@Trypset:- The producers who were making the dubstep you liked in 06-08 are still making amazing tunes now, check out anything recent by Distance, Pinch, Digital Mystikz, Kromestar, Quest, Silkie etc. Here are some links to various artists, mainly my preferred style which is very synth-heavy, bleepy modern sounding stuff.

People are doing so much interesting stuff it's difficult to keep track of, but garage is making a huge comeback and techno crossover stuff is getting really popular. 30mins spent scouring Juno or wherever will prove dubstep is definitely not dead, just morphing into a myriad of different sounds.

oooh - some nice stuff in there.

Its like jungle and drum n bass: for every nasty generic "jump-up" track, there's an interesting, introspective musical track. Just gotta find the good stuff!

I could care less about Skrillex but it always pisses me off when people post such ignorant shit.

So to get this right, because the dude makes “commercial” music that the masses (in that genre) seem to enjoy and pay to see, this makes him a what? A Tard?

The dude probably sees more success in a year than you will see in 10 years or even your lifetime and the best you can say that he’s a “Tard” because he makes commercial music?

People make similar arguments for Tiesto or David Guetta or even DeadmauFIVE and although I don’t care for their music, I can certainly respect the fact that they are making money hand over fist. Half the people on this and every other music blog bitch about how hard it is to make it in the music industry and then once they see that someone has made it, they hate on them. Some childish shit!

I like dubstep with a solid moody groove you can lock on to. When that gets eclipsed by a hard listening seizure inducing glitch-fest I'm out.

yes.

dubstep is becoming so diverse, to me the name itself has become pretty meaningless.

i'm no genre expert though.

@bizon: its just an opinion mate. the whole internet is just opinions. one man's dope is another man's whack. (<< that's me talking american!)

you answered your own question..... and yes I stand by my tard statement. He is a tard, maybe i said it wrong.....his music is tard....Better music than mine? Thats all up to the listener. I don't put people who enjoy "Skrillex" and all his remixes of other "tard" tracks and my music in the same category regardless of numbers. Are my "production" skills better than his....no far from it. It's a mindset sort of thing to me..........I'll stay underground playing live for a few peeps, in a small town, or even just myself, who care about it as opposed to following the "trend".

Production is pretty cool i guess if you like "commercial" progression of any music....

But my main beef is.......hey, wheres the DUB

@ manwell

thanks for the links. My crate is full of those artist vinyl because its vibed out real music. Appreciate the tunes. I was meaning "dubstep" as a genre is dead....the founders will never die.

@ bizon

Ignorant.....please....expand your shallow horizon and find some better drugs lol

one more thing.....dubstep was founded on reggae vibes with DUB as a focus....please show me where the "dub" is in this track and I might have a different opinion. It's music made for kiddy raver drug heads.
