Recording a band live with Live getting a wobbling sound?

Post by Woody » Thu Jan 13, 2011 1:30 am

I have been recording a 4 piece band live with Live. My set up is a Mackie Onyx 16 channel firewire board out to a iMac24. We use 14 channels to record. My problem I am having is that the recording has a hard to explain issue. Sounds like phasing, wobble sound is going on. What could cause this? Any suggestions on how to get rid of this problem. Is it in the prefernce settings. What is everyone recording at regarding buffer size, etc. and all the settings? It seems when I import files to mix I do not have this problem.

Thanks,
Woody

It's more likely to be caused by your mic positioning and the bleed between mics into the different tracks causing the phasing. Unless you are isolating every mic for each instrument and singer then this is a risk.

You'll need to experiment and move your mics around to eliminate the issue I think.
