Hi,
I've been looking into drum pads and I've narrowed down to the MPD32 and the padKONTROL. The one thing that makes the MPD more attractive over the padkontrol are the knobs and faders, so to compensate I would probably buy a Nocturn if I got the padKONTROL. I've read everywhere that the padkontrol has the best pads (aside from the Maschine, but that is out of my price range) and the MPD's are sub par, but that's really up to personal opinion for me and I am yet to try them out. I'd be using the pads primarily for drum racks and maybe some clip launching, but I already have a Monome that can launch clips, etc. So this is my question:
1. Could the Nocturn make up for the padKONTROL lack of controls to make it similar to the MPD32 in terms of knobs and faders? Or is it better to have the MPD32's controls? (I know the Nocturn doesn't have any faders, but from what I've read I could probably assign the knobs to act like faders inside of Live.)
MPD32 or padKONTROL with Nocturn?

Re: MPD32 or padKONTROL with Nocturn?
answer is yes,
but you'd got to deal with 2 units, so more tweaking needed.
besides, nocturn autompap is a pain in the a££, IMHO, but some are happy with automap...
I'd advice you to go MPD32, the padkontrol is really great (and customisable with 3rd party apps), flashing pads is a must have in 2011 (with feedback), but if your like it simple, choose the 1-unit option.
cheers

If you need a good dynamic response on the pads, take a padKONTROL.
