effects and settings that work well for idents? advice?

Post by RickDawson » Wed Jun 30, 2010 12:08 am

I use Traktor Pro to do my mixes.
I record a new mix each month (Energetic Euphoric Trance). It's ended up as a radio show.

I sound terrible for my recorded voice.

I put this up on twitter, asking if someone could do me some voice samples.

I now have the raw *.wav files.

I'm not sure what to do next with them, to make it so they can just be dropped into/over a mix.

He did give me a few pointers, but i'm no audio engineer

from the email he sent me with the samples/recordings
As you asked these files are raw and not edited after recording in ANY way. I did not even cut them.
...
Please compress the files as you like but make sure you use the same compression on every recording so that they will ALL sound the same before you throw effects on it.
Minor volume differences may occur between separate files, mind this while compressing with a preset for my voice, the compressor will act different if the volume has a too big difference (correct this by gaining the file itself or by adjusting the Threshold of your compressor)
Where should I begin / what should i do with these files, to get them ready to put over a mix?

I would cut the single voices and put them into sampler.
This way you can trigger them with midi and use wherever you like in the track.

You need FX advice ???

Hmm..., EQ, maybe compression to level out the overall vocal volume if needed.
Reverb for sure...!
See if you like some chorus for refrain parts...???!!!
Maybe some delay would also be nice on some parts...? ( Just an idea...)

You can do whatever you like with the vocal, even distort it or filter it
on some parts...!!! Try whatever comes into your mind...!
Relooper can do some magic too...!

The limit is your imagination...
No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!
