ableton 7 to 8 upgrade

Can i upgrade to ableton8 (download version) if I own ableton7 (boxed). Or am I forced into buy the boxed upgrade?

Also my other question is, i have both a windows machine, and a macbook, when I purchase the downloaded version, I will beable to apply the upgrade to both computers?

If I remember correctly the licence allows you to install on two machines but you can only use it on one machine at a time.
