Cant Preview Suite 8 Instruments

Hi......new to this forum and Ableton.

Just picked up Suite 8 yesterday and installed the software on my Macbook. Installed the instrument packs by dragging them individually into the Live application window. The built in instruments appear to be there, but i can not seem to preview the individual instruments from the Live Devices Browser. If I drag the instrument to a midi track then i can preview that instrument from there.

I'm certain, rather hoping that there is a way to preview the instruments from the browsers as opposed to dragging them into a midi track first.

Any help is very much appreciated.

As far as I know, dragging to a track is the way to "preview" them. Sorry.

I agree it would be a good feature to be able to hear just a couple of notes without having to load the entire instrument. But I'm guessing that some of the instruments will need the entire instrument to be loaded to play even one note.

I did find a samples folder in my file browser under clips, defaults grooves etc where it appears the instruments can also be previewed without having to drag them to a track first.

Now, if i can only figure out why my radium49 controller wont trigger anything I should be in business....lol

Aren't those the raw samples that are manipulated in the (presets of the) instruments though? So won't necessarily show you what the presets sound like. That's what I thought and why I didn't suggest it.

As for your Radium, is everything set up in the MIDI tab of Preferences as it should be? Is the track armed? Are the choosers of the track set to allow the incoming MIDI from the Radium?
