thanks for the hint, that´s what I´m doing.
I´m just looking for a an input channel for the audio that comes from the computer the MK3 is connected to- I expect this signal to show up next to the channels of the analog inputs.
Also the output window should feature firewire output channels that I can assign my mix busses to.
The Ultralight seems to treat the Firewire audio similar to how crappy analog mixers treat the tape in/out - which I always hated and refused to use - I want to be able to mute, level, eq and route any signal that enters the mixer in any way similarly...
But I

Anyone able to compare it to Mbox3?
That would seem to be my two best choices for audio interface.

re: Ultralight mk3 - Now this is the kind of thing I wish RME would make as a smaller cheaper version of the Fireface UFX.
Nothing to see here - move along!
Re: My MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Review(-ish)
Just to share my experience: I've had the ultralite MK1 for five years with no problem except the volume knob broke off two weeks ago making impossible to power it but with the use of a screwdriver. So I thought I'd buy the MK3 to take advantage of the onboard dsp and have the MK1 fixed one of these days as a spare unit.
What a piece of junk! Crackling, pops, weird digital noise, unexplained internal feedback loops whereas nothing is connected to either outputs or inputs, clumsy controls. And last night when muting the master: BOOOOOM, volume cranked up itself to 0db nearly blowing up my ears and my speakers! I nearly died.. This little guy is not staying in my studio, back to the chinese junkyard where it belongs, bye bye. Oh wait, it reads "made in USA", pfff, meh, wtf?
Now that Motu is out of the question, what soundcard shall I get? TC? Rme? Apogee? Metric Halo?
