APC40 freezes/hangs while editing.

Hi all,

I have been using Live 8 with the APC40 for about a year and a half, it's a great piece of gear, it has taken my gigs to a whole new level.

I have a problem though, the APC is freezing when I am working on my sets or on my arrangements. It stops responding and remains stuck, with the LEDS lit, but totally unresponsive. I have to turn it off and on again, occasionally several times, to get it working again. (Thank OSX for that. In windows i would have to restart Live)

I noticed that this usually happens when I change some MIDI cc in the software via mouse (not when I actually have my hands on the APC40). This is a good thing, because it has never frozen on me when I am playing a gig. (That would be horror.)

Of course there are no drivers or firmware to upgrade. I use Live 8.2 but the problem has been there since 8.0.

My system is a Macbook Pro running Leopard, with a NI AudioKontrol 1 audio interface.

Any ideas?

Hi, are you using the APC40 as a control surface in Live, or custom MIDI mapping it?

A combination of the two. I use the native mapping for channels and clips, and I custom map the 8 pan/send knobs to control some send fx, also I map some of the buttons to different fucntions. Is there a known issue with custom mapping?

i'm gonna jump in here and say i've had the same problem for a while now.
not using a custom template and running last version of live but it's been doing it for some time now, at least since first version of live 8 if not before.

running on a mbp c2d osx 10.6.7

last night i've noticed that if i go into Preferences-Midi and uncheck then check the remote button for apc it becomes responsive again but haven't done much testing so go ahead and try it next time it gets stuck and see what results you get.
