well, there have always been 2 upgrade prices.Ritzi Lee wrote:Why the hell are there 3 different prices to upgrade from live4 to live5??
Why not just one price?
Those who do not want a new box or printed manual save money by buying the download upgrade only.
But Ableton has also made special pricing for those users who bought Live 4, with Live 5 just around the corner.
so, to answer your question of "Why the hell are there 3 different prices to upgrade from live4 to live5??"
well, they want to make their users happy and give them fair prices because everyone has a different situation. Folks who bought Live 4 last week shouldn't be penalized. And folks who don't need all the tree-killing save $ too.

yeah fair play to Ableton for making a good price for Live 4 users.
But if they were being REALLY cool they should knock off another 30 euros for people who purchased Operator! Just to sweeten the deal. And reduce Operator to EUR120 for new purchasers.
If they drop the price of Operator I'll go nuts after paying full whack for it in good faith to Ableton!!!!!

i would expect to see them to make Live 5 free for Operator buyers, before they did anything else having to do with Operator and the new Live 5.anonymouse wrote: But if they were being REALLY cool they should knock off another 30 euros for people who purchased Operator! but i think its fine the way it is. Operator is a great synth. Its worth the money. If someone feels it is not, they don't have to buy it, or know that it exists in the Live software. and remember what Henke said. Operator was great in that it allowed Ableton to pay its developers and in turn make the next major Live update (v.5) a great one. Just by looking at the new feature list, if we can thank Operator for only 10% of that, it was definitely worth it
besides, anyone still moaning about paying for Operator is just plain cheap

hear,hear... although it's _definately_ worth it anyhow..ooops..
NO QUESTION, Operator is a great synth, All the more so with these new Live features. Doubtless quite a number of other Live users will now add Operator to their kit. That's why I suggest dropping its price a little and offering a cheaper upgrade to Live 5 users for those who already have Operator.
That said, I'm perfectly happy to pay the regular Live 4 -> Live 5 price. And I can already recognise how cool it is to have a nice FM synth tightly embedded in Live
I was just trying to take advantage of the party atmosphere and have them good ole cats in Berlin spread the love
i agree, operator is a very good synth (and i'm not a synth-guy). just slightly over-priced, but still worth it.
and i think the pricing for the Live5 upgrade is fair. my plans were to skip the next release cause i was happy with Live4, but know i can't wait to have 5 running on my lappy.
i think the abes definitely deserve their cash.at least i am happy to pay for such a product and such a company. no doubt about it.

hahahaha, are you the kinda guy that crashes wedding receptions where all the groom's family thinks you're with the bride, and all the bride's family thinks you're with the groom?
but who cares, they'll never figure it out. you just got an $80 meal, had $50 worth of alcohol and you're going home with a bride's maid!
