Why buy Mac when you can press F11 and never know the diff?
Serious question. Feel free to flame (as I'm sure ya'll will). But what is the point of a mac when you can press F11 and you don't know your in windows anymore? They both look the exact same at that point. They are both just as stable, I don't care what you naysayers say. The only time Live crashes for me in win 7 is from specific external VSTs, and mac users get the exact same crashes. They both have the same hardware. The only difference is the core audio drivers. Asio works just as well if you're not using direct x audio at the same time.

Because you have to see the horrible W7 interface to "Open Recent...".
Seriously though, 'cuz there wasn't much difference in price compared from my MBP to a Dell/Alienware/Sony/Whatever with the real same specs and nice bright/clear screen. They don't have a nice big scrolly trackpad with inertial scrolling so I can fly all over my Ableton set. I use it for a lot more than Ableton too and prefer OSX overall (although W7 have some nice features).
If you want to buy a desktop, then the answer is a bit trickier since Apple make you buy a neat and tidy All-in-One (iMac), a small underpowered desktop (Mini), or a lots-of-cores Xeon workstation (Mac Pro). If I only had £500 then a large desktop PC is a complete no brainer.
A windows PC isn't "just as stable". It *might* be just as stable depending on your luck, the manufacturer, and the drivers (speaking from experience).

P.S. I've never had to use 2 hands to right click! I can right click happily using 2 fingers anywhere on my massive smooth trackpad! Or with the right button of the mouse! The apple 1-button mouse disappeared the first half of last decade didn't it?

P.P.S. And it's so smooth and shiny with all its aluminium and glass it makes me hard just being within a few metres of it. I even get a semi when it's running Win7 via Boot Camp.

Not to mention two-button mice have been supported since OS 8
I have a feeling OP has never used a Mac, just heard other people complain about them.

you know what this forum needs a good ol' mac vs pc debate. people should start making music with FOUR kick drums per bar too. something original ya know?
Re: Why buy Mac when you can press F11 and never know the diff?
You can right click perfectly with a mac. Using one finger... The same as a pc.

That's not true. I've owned 2 macbooks and a powerbook. I used mac solely for 3 years.djsb wrote:Piplodocus wrote:

I like win 7 better. And for people who rave about macbook screens, who are you kidding? It's like having a Fisher Price computer with that thick border around the screen. Staring at it is a constant reminder that Steve Jobs likes to rip you off.

Well, as a Mac guy this thread gave me great hope that I could instantly turn my PC experience into a Mac experience at the touch of a button.
So far this has been THE GREAT LIE OF THE YEAR.
