Syncing two laptops via Presonus Firestudio Project

Post by tmains » Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:59 pm

Hey everybody,

My buddy and I are having all sorts of problems figuring out what to do. We are both using the latest version of Live and the same with MacBook Pros.
We also have one Presonus Firestudio Project for an interface. All 8 inputs on the interface are being filled with mics that we want to sample, loop, and manipulate in real time with Ableton. We want to do so on both computers simultaneously. We also want to be clock synced so we can stay on beat together.

Ex: Computer 1 wants to take a sample from Mic 1 at the exact same time Computer 2 wants to take a sample from Mic 3.

In order for us to do that, we both need to be connected to the interface, but the interface only allows for one firewire connection at a time.

My question is... how do you guys recommend we sync? Should we run midi out from the Master computer to the interface, then midi out of the interface and into the Slave computer?
Any suggestions at all are helpful.

Thanks
