When Live is running as slave to a midi clock master device, can we record all the midi clock tempo changes also into Live? If yes, how? If not, are there maybe any workarounds? What I want to avoid is triggering scenes with bpm value names in Live.
Recording tempo events as midi into Live would have the advantage that we can edit them also later. If nothing helps, I have to record everything directly as audio, without any later editing options. Any ideas and suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Midi clock sync, Live is slave, tempo recording possible?
Re: Midi clock sync, Live is slave, tempo recording possible?
The short answer is NO.
When slaved, Live simply locks to the incoming clock, it doesn't keep track of what that tempo actually is.

Whenever there is a tempo change, Live adds a warp marker to the audio file that is being recorded as a reference.
You may possibly be able to use a clip like this as a 'master tempo', after the recording is done.
To record one continuous clip throughout a set sounds challenging though..

Not a big set, only a single track of 10 minutes duration at maximum, so normal electronic music limits for a single track/song.yur2die4 wrote:Whenever there is a tempo change, Live adds a warp marker to the audio file that is being recorded as a reference.

Warp markers, ok, but we will not have any information to which bpm this warp marker will belong to?
Actually, I am wondering why Live can not record those tempo changes simply as new tempo events, each time the tempo is changing, it could do so at least each time a delta of 3 to 5 bpm is occuring. Anyway, it seems we need then a workaround solution. We need to record in Live then something else, which we can send later during playback to the Midi clock master which will use those information to do same tempo changes as during the performance. Yes this should work.
