Live 5 Announcement
Is it possible to have my money back for the 4 update and have a straight 3 to 5 update?...how much is that? upps 240....hmm...no way out i guess...
Anyway..the new instruments and fx look nice and do some important thinks... i think they do the value for the 120.-€...
And the working midi is free... I prefer to see it like that...
The jumpable markers can come handy in a live situation...
And the clipexport comes late ...but it will really help to bring the best elements you have created together...
Looks like a more positiv Ableton experiance

[quote="timothyallan"]i was just talking about that with a friend.
I really dont want Live to become "that" app. The one that people are ashamed to use in public, because every act in the known world uses the same software.

you mean like how no-one would ever be seen dead with a guitar round neck because so many people are playing it?
I'm not getting rid of my fender just because it doesnt make me an instant hendrix - you still need to be able to PLAY live live!

Yeah me too I have bought Live 4 may 12.......stephenlnoe wrote:This is a fucking rip off. That's what it is. If you've just purchased Live4 recently you'll have to pay more $$ for live 5. Now tell me who couldn't wait a week or two for the free upgrade by buying after June 1st if they'd have known?
now this I like:
yet again the gays and gals at ableton have been over there with their notepads jotting down EVERY SINGLE WISH most of us have had since live 4.
Do you guys ever sleep???
In the Browser, Live Sets (.als files) can be "unfolded' to reveal their tracks and clips - which can then be selectively previewed and dragged in. It is also possible to drag a Live Set from the Browser into the currently open Set to merge the two.

There are A LOT (Yes, A LOT) of great additions to Live 5 and the last thing I want is to sound ungreatful but while I understand that not all items on the user's wish list can be addressed in a single version upgrade, I'd be lying if I said I was not disappointed by the fact that after four upgrades Live 5 still doesn't take advantage of DUAL CPU's
And a couple of other things that SEEM (I am just a musician, not a programmer) rather easy to add like : Like hearing MIDI notes when you clic them in the editor window (not the keyboard but the actual note) or adding a couple of cells to Impulse

I received the e-mail, and I am very excited about the new features you are offering. I think it will be a huge step forward for the product.
I am most excited about the right-click menu. Since I am a right-clicking kind of fool, this will eliminate the hundred or so wasted right-clicks I currently do when working with Live
I did notice that support for Acidized .wav files was not one of the features added. So, I will make my obligatory request for this to be considered; however, since Acid Pro 5 runs as a ReWire client and Live 4.x hosts it quite well, purchasing Acid Pro 5 has made this request less of a priority for me.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw how they did the arrangement markers. Wasn't sure if they were paying attention, but they were and very closely! A great company they are.forge wrote:yet again the guys and gals at ableton have been over there with their notepads jotting down EVERY SINGLE WISH most of us have had since live 4.

ok, the auto tempo matching takes the cake, that's got me waiting very impatiently and keen to hand over my hard earned, and mp3 support...cool, but what about AAC, abletons please dont diss us mac users, we are m4a not mp3, please, please, please... for the love of god... please dont make me choose between my powerbook and your program ! I want live and I want it working on my powerbook !... hows the mac cpu coping with live 5 ?

Let them walk before they run. They wanted to, understandably, focus on the features everybody wants, instead of focussing on features maybe only a fraction of their users want. Video will come, maybe in Live 6?Viz wrote:as much as i love live4, im quite disappointed with the fact abletoneans are still not friendly to TV/Film composers.. there`s still no Video support. I had to make a video commercial with my calculator as i had to analyse the time for a particular scene and then compose it in live. it was hard but i had no other option as i never have the ease and fun composing in any software sequencer other than live4.
my only hope is ableton will give us, TV/film composers, some thing to cheer for in their live 5`s first update at least and make us buy it because im not really enthused to buy the 5th version of live even though it has some mind boggling features to boast.

I think its too much to integrate video at this point...i prefer stable music sequencing first...
Actually there are other applikations that do for the soundtrack producer what Live is doing for the performer...
You should check Acid pro. Its perfectly equipped for synchronisation needs but lacks all the live oriantated features that Ableton Live is offering...
Booth programms complement each other pretty well...but...only on PC
