VST plugins don't show up in Ableton in Windows 7
Hey all. So I got a new laptop with 64 bit Windows 7. I reinstalled Ableton, but it won't recognize any of my VST or DX plugins. I'm using Waves, Absynth, Massive, Camel Phat, etc. Just a few random Waves plugins work, but everything else won't show up in the plugin window. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't think DX plug-ins work in Live. I could be wrong.
Do you have all your VSTs installed in the same folder?
I always make sure to tell any VSTs to go to C:\VstPlugins\ by doing a custom install. It's better to always install all you VST in one folder outside of the protected area of C:\Program Files..... which certain VSTs don't like.
Then in Live I tell it to use C:\VstPlugins\ as my VST Plug-In Custom Folder.
Also...another tip for Win7 and VSTs
Certain plug-ins don't like be registered (inputting the serial number) when Live isn't being run as administrator. Right-Click on the shortcut for Ableton Live, choose Run As Administrator and register the plug-in. Next time you won't need to run as admin, it's just for registering.

are you plug ins 64 bit or 32 bit?
Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music
