cheers to peaceful discourse.

if we do this again and I get personal, just point it out. I know better but I get passionate about music.

"people say Metallica sold out.
yeah we sold out...
every motherfucking show!"
-J. Hetfield.

twats were saying they sold out because they cut their hair.

that's why we gotta be careful.

everyone on here LOVES music and we're from all over the world and live in our own musical scenes. forums are awful for communication, no sense of sarcasm, poor writing, poor reading, GRUDGES, all that. I don't know your place in music, you don't know mine either. it's all fucked up, total popcorn material.

Actually, the British invented concentration camps if I'm not mistaken. As per usual we invent stuff (football? Cricket?), then other countries do it better.

I'm not sure anyone on this forum voted for hitler. Some people probably voted for George W though (or reelected Tony Blair after it had become apparent he was a c**t). To be fair hitler did quite a bit of good for Germany until he turned out to be a complete nutter! I suppose the fact he was a Nazi might have been a slight indicator though.

U2 never sold out. They wanted to be the biggest band in the world from the day they started as teenagers. Several "sell out" moments over the years I suppose, but that they were always a commercial band. What is the point of calling someone a sellout anyway? You either like a particular record or you don't.

Speaking of, their best and by far most experimental record Achtung Baby came after Rattle & Hum so that kinda shoots holes in your theory don't it :D
how old are you?

good job on completely misreading what I wrote.
34. Old enough to have bought those records as a kid. You're right, U2 are of course massive sellouts. My point was just that they still made one of their most critically acclaimed and their most experimental record after your cutoff point, which indicates that people can still make good records regardless.

Didn't you see the smiley face? It was supposed to be a friendly jibe. Geez people are touchy on the Internet.

My question about Black Eyed Peas is who popularized adding Electro to Top 40 R&B/Pop & Rap. Was it them or Lady Gaga, rap artists, basically who got there first? That's certainly the trend nowadays, it's everywhere.

Metallica did change their sound. Black Eyed Peas changed their sound and added a beautiful lady singer.

A few years ago I met 2 girls that worked for them, the merch girl for BEP and Fergie's assistant. Yes, we were was hitting on them. At least my buddy Ralph was, he's actually good at it. They both said Fergie was ridiculously cool and down to earth. I wouldn't be surprised if Will I Am met Fergie around town - hanging out like celebrities do - and was like, "We're all pretty successful but we still owe our major label money. This chick is cool. I could write pop hits in my sleep. Maybe we could make some cool music and all have fun along the way." Maybe it wasn't all that sinister. That's the way I like to imagine it anyway.

Metallica on the other hand, they're sinister sellouts for sure. What self important pompous asses. Classic self absorbed, raging ego maniacs. There's a whole movie about them going to a therapist to work out their issues as a band. "Well, years of medical training and intense interactions with patients allows me to conclude that in fact, you're all assholes, discuss".

Anyone in the music business has, by definition of being in a business sold out...
BEP...well I used to like them, now I listen to their tunes, and sometimes I hear something I like....often I don't. People wanna hate on other people making a living? Hahahaha

I like the show everybody loves raymond but that doesn't mean it's an example of good acting, and that's inspite of the fact that there are some good actors on the show but they are not trying to act on that show.
will i am is an extremely capable producer, drumsampler user, protools user, but I've just never heard a song of theirs that I liked, i always pref their dancing to their music but its easily understood rap music is vast and all of it definitely doesn't sound the same.
