yeah, too bad we still have to pay for it.
we SHOULD get paid to use this software. WE made it.
poshook, did you see gomi's informative post above? there is a solution for you TV/Video guys.poshook wrote: I agree. I make music for ads and need to have at least small flying windov with mpg or avi. Ableton Live is the strongest tool for TV music and I am very sad that this power is not caped with possibility to make TV music live with video.

it might even be too late now...hoffman2k wrote: I wonder if we could buy stocks![]()
Now would be a good time to invest.
i think the good deal was to buy before Live4 came out.
though, i don't know if i would have invested when Live1 was released (provided i had money to spend) ...
anyway, i think these guys must have some pretty happy investors (and if any of them reads that: GIVE THE ABES MORE MONEY)
I humbly invite those of you who do not understand to give us a break. With every upgrade you mouth off about other users needs which you have no idea about. As if their requested feature is going to ruin your party ! Well it aint your party, we are all invited !
As far as video 'Revision' does not work ! Without the gory details it most importantly forces Live into rewire slave mode. If you dont know what that means put a lid on it while you crack open the manual.
Some of us need to have a movie clip chase to live. If you dont get that again I invite you to shut the fuck up. I dont want or need mp3 - I would have rather seen surround channels and returns which would have been a breeze for the development team - but you dont hear me whinening (well sort of
)
If some one has the desire to ask for a feature you dont need or fully understand the implication of, than leave it at that. If you do understand the issue and can offer a viable solution please feel free to let us all know.
Dont just say use another application instead of Live what the hell kind of advise is that to offer ? And do you feel we all live in caves and have not been ACTIVELY looking for a solution ?
Rant over - your all good guys it just gets under the skin

Yes, I agree. Maybe this should've been 4.5, instead of a whole new product. I just bought my upgrade a couple months ago, now it's another 120 bucks. I would think they would want to go back at least a few months for the $50 upgrade.
I guess we should just accept that it's going to cost $119 a year to own Live-- kind of like a subscription.

uh, no mike, it costs 119$ a year to keep getting a better and better product. If ya like live4 then owning that won't cost you anything other than what you've already paid, right?-MIKE- wrote:I guess we should just accept that it's going to cost $119 a year to own Live-- kind of like a subscription.

I'm building more drums now, and experimenting with hammering brass shells, building hoops and shells, and playing, of course.
Obviously, I'm using Live for performance.
Good to hear from you.

I agree with AdamJay on this one.
But I kindof see the point in why someone would be a little bummed about having just purchased recently, and then having to upgrade....
But nothing is perfect. I mean if it went back two months, then those that bought the product 2 months and one day ago would have a gripe...the cycle would go all the way back to the release of v.1.
Development takes time, and money, and talented programmers.
Ableton even said that they were able to add to their ability (huh, pun intended) due to the success of v.4...
If you don't want the new features, then don't upgrade...
But realize that they probably couldn't have had the new features ready for the v.4 release. Personally, I would rather have had v.4 for a year the way it was then wait 2 years for v.5 while still only using v.3...
Look, this is quality quality stuff for way less than it would have been even 5 years ago...I don't make any money right now, either off of music or in general as I am a PhD student. But.......
