What add-ons can I buy for 8.2.1 lite version if any?

Post by AbletonFinn » Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:04 pm

Are there any add-ons that I could buy and use with my lite version or are they meant for other more "full" versions. Just started wondering when I looked at the .alp files and noticed a sample_v8.5.alp file. By the way can I delete the .alp files after install or is there some use for them?

by add ons if you mean... reverbs and compressors and such, then you can user 3rd party VSTs. Otherwise, you can upgrade to Ableton Live or Ableton Live Suite or you can buy Live instruments separately.

I already use vsti's but what I mean is that is the lite version restricted somehow (not to be able to expand it by buying the ableton sampler for example)?

Ah! you know, i dunno, i have Suite.

One way to find out would be to go to Preferences and look at the tabs... is there one called "User Account Licenses"? if so, this is were you see your Ableton products that you're authorized for. If this tab is absent, then I'd say you are in a world of restriction.

Another alternative would be [email protected]... shoot em an email and ask to be sure.

If I had to guess, and I am guessing, I'd say that you probably can expand it. Seems like a better business model to me.

good luck.
