Mastering Techno in the US

Post by marky » Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:53 am

It's been 8 years since I released my last techno records (I took a long break to develop a career as an IC designer but my heart has never left techno :) ). Back then there wasn't the emphasis on mastering the way there is these days.

However, I'm almost ready with a few new tracks and I'm looking for advice on where any of the techno producers out there are getting their stuff mastered. Any price guidelines too would be useful, though my main concern is getting a good sound and possibly geting a good relationship going with an ME who understands my sound.

Any ideas/recomendations?

Shawn Hatfield - AKA Twerk - provides excellent mastering services:

The guy was a fantastic producer, and is also an amazing engineer. He's pretty much completely focused on mastering for techno & related electronic styles.

Rick Essig is the man!

I've been getting everything done there. He's moderately priced, very honest and is a total pro. He's doing all the hot stuff out there. He'll master for vinyl or CD.

check out the mastering on our stuff at: http://www.mekmusic.com

Expect ~$250/hour (approx 2 tracks)

francios K
