hahaha.
Live 4 must be the FIRST technology purchase you've ever made in your life, yes?
Otherwise you'd know that as soon as you buy something, something better follows.

Now, if you can yank that stick out your rectum long enough to think clearly, you'll see that the Live 5 pricing mentions a special discount on the upgrade fee for recent purchasers of Live 4....

"For customers who purchased Live 4 between May 1, 2005 and May 31, 2005, downloadable upgrades to Live 5 will be available for 49 EUR/USD from the Ableton webshop. thats 59% OFF !!! I could understand the bitching if you had to pay the full upgrade fee, but considering this discount...

First, you don't know what the fuck your talking about Indy girl. It's likely I was buying technolgy when you were just a fish so pull your head out of your arse and listen up. I contacted the gents at Ableton about it and they will honor my free upgrade so keep blowing smoke out of your pie hole, but point it elsewhere. Never heard any mix that came out of indy that was worth a shit anyway. Hell even babyface packed up and went to LA to find some professionals.

have a great day............

Hey Mike,
I remember you from old RMMP days - how've ya been, still modding those Black Dawgs?

STU! Whazzup, bud? Haven't seen your "face" in forever. Yeah, I still send out the occasional Dawg.
I'm building more drums now, and experimenting with hammering brass shells, building hoops and shells, and playing, of course.

Obviously, I'm using Live for performance.

Good to hear from you.
Nice to see you too, mate. I've been hanging at Drumsmith, board-wise, and doing some writing for MD. How's Nashvegas treating ya?

OK, so your old. Further proof that age has nothing to do with emotional maturity. They say that most people don't reach much past the age of seventeen maturity wise, but you couldn't be much older than about six.

That has to be about the most childish thing I've read on these forums.

Sad fact is that some peeps on this forum do seem a little trigger happy when slagging off others (the spam post a few weeks back seemed to bring out the worst sides of a lot of people). Name calling on the Internet really has gotta be one of the most futile things to do. Anyway, although I don't post much, still love the forum. The news about Live 5 came out just before I went in for surgery so it gave me something to look forward to. Now resting at home and dreaming about getting the beta... peace.

stephenlnoe,

you came on here guns blazing and i felt like you needed to realize that Ableton's pricing was actually quite generous. but its blatantly obvious that you have severe emotional issues that inhibit you from making a post on this forum that is non-violent. My remark about you having a stick in your butt must have triggered something to only make your violence more extreme.

thats sad really. i'm sure its rooted in some deep dark corner of your past, and not your own fault but someone else's. Whoever's fault it is that you've become a dark and sour soul, forgive them and get on with your life. Read a good book, go to the zoo, enjoy the park, take a swim, or do whatever it takes to remind yourself that you are indeed a kind human being and not the animal that you've become.

i hope you can get over this rough patch, and see that there are more important things in life than complaining about finances with vulgarity and negativity.

YEZZ, let's move things forward .....

Count me in for beta testing

Why do people always go on about LIVE potentially creating more DJs.
Beat matching is hardly rocket science anyway - and with decks already outselling guitars I think the interest in so many people wanting to be a 'cool' DJ is something that has been present for sometime now.

LIVE is an amazing program - it enables those with the desire to experiment and go beyond the usual beatmatching.

Tania ... Decks outselling guitars ?

That might have been the case back in the mid to late 90s but I can assure you it hasn't been the case for the past few years or so. Have you not noticed the unnerving resurgence of rock in recent years ?

I undenderstand why he's so angry. One day you buy Live4 and second day is Live5 coming out. Now what? Pay extra money for upgrade? If I had Live for 2 weeks I would be angy too. Anyway his post seems to me like "Koxie headache post". After what he wrote here I think he doesn´t deserve any honors from Ableton.

what's the difference between him and the rest of us? when he bought Live4, he didn't know that 5 was about to be released, neither did we.
now i've used Live4 for almost a year, ok, but he's allowed to wait one year before upgrading (and i would almost advise it).

as adam said, that's the deal with products improvements. there'll always have to be a release date and ppl complaining about it. but sometimes they'd better shut up intead of being arrogant AND announcing publicly that they had a deal with the company (which is just disrespectful to other users who accept the rules without whining).

anyway, it's quite funny how this thread has turned into 4 or 5 different conversations.
but the main point must still be:

I bought a newspaper yesterday, and today, I'm walking past the newsstand and I see the've just gone and upgraded it to a totally new one! I went apeshit with the guy who sold me the one yesterday. He must have known they were just about to release the upgrade.

The salesperson tried to explain that yesterday's newspaper was perfectly good yesterday, and I looked happy as I read it while I walked away.

But I told him it was a fucking rip off. After an hour screaming at him, he finally exchanged the old one for the new one. He kinda had a funny look on his face, like he thought I was a complete dick. But I got what I wanted in the end, by going completely ballistic.

I'm sure it will never happen again.

I too have just landed from Mars like stephenInoe.

anonymouse I don't know what planet YOU are from not to notice until today that your newspaper is different everyday. :D

without using foul language because I really think this coming version is a dream come true on paper, with many requests being fulfilled, I feel slightly upset for I bought live 4 on 22nd of April, that's 5 working days before being elligible for discount. I know there has to be a limit, shame i'm not on the right side

that is a bummer. but if you're just getting used to Live, you have 6 months at least before you can get a really fluid flow going. Live 4 looks simple, just like a 6 string guitar does, but harnessing it takes some time to sink in. getting the v4 functionality nailed down is going to be enough on your plate.

you've made a great purchase anyway.

I had live 3 before that, and used it rewired for the plugins, so not much difference really (i tried all demos), and honestly when i bought live 3 I expected some of the features that will be available in live 5 ( namely set import, loop on the spot, different asd for same clips...) the lack of was a real no-no for me.
before starting flaming I understand most people were happy without, it's just I wasn't.

Bernd:
Hi, everybody.

First of all we are very pleased about your great reactions on the announcement of Live 5. You probably would love to get your hands on Live 5 right now. But unfortunately we are still in the middle of internal alpha testing. So do expect the start of the public beta testing neither this nor next week. We first want to iron out all bugs we can find.

Because we expect so many of you would want to download already the first beta version which would produce many postings of the same bugs, we decided - like with Live 4 - to restrict the first beta to 500 registered Live users, so we can focus on fixing bugs and reduce the effort to maintain the beta forum.

When the beta will be ready we will send out a newsletter - that's why you should be register with the "Newsletter" flag to "Yes". By that time we will also open a website where the first 500 - first come, first served - will get their personal Live 5 beta serial number. Later on we will increase the number of participants and at last we will free the public beta even to non Live users.

Here at ableton we are all very excited about Live 5 and hope you are as well - at the latest if you will try it by yourself. The Live 4 beta release of last year was such an extremely positive experience for us through all your help and enthusiasm. So let's hope we will all have the fun we had last time.

Kind regards and see you all soon right here,

Bernd.

I appreciate the civilized replies to my post. I enjoy sharing opinions and points of view with those who don't see a different, even polar, opinion as a personal insult. Thank you for your explanations and analogies (even the flawed ones). :-)

To those who got all petty and bitchy and responded in such ways as to that makes one suspect I had told you your wife was ugly and your mother had crooked teeth...... well, no hard feelings, you have to live with yourselves. :-)

I still love Live, I just hope I have the freedom to offer criticism without getting cast as a pariah.
