Equipment recommendations.

Post by clamber » Sun Feb 20, 2011 12:27 am

In 2009 I bought Ableton just to play around with and see if I liked it. All I had was Ableton, no other software or hardware.

I really liked what I could do with it and I had a lot of fun. Right now I'm thinking about getting some equipment and learning more of Ableton and making some some complex things.

I only have about $1200, but I'd just like to get some basic stuff.

So far I'm thinking:

Native Komplete 7
Akai APC40
Akai MPK Mini Keyboard
M-Audio STudiophile BX5a Monitors

And whatever else I need to get that all to work. What else will I need to get that to work together?

I really don't know much about anything. I only know the very basics of Ableton and I know there's a lot to learn, but I'm not sure where to start. I also don't know a lot about this kind of audio stuff as well. I'm not entirely sure how MIDI works, and there's a lot of technical terms I don't understand. And I'm not sure about how to set all this equipment up, I need an audio interface, but what does that exactly do?

So what are your recommendations for Ableton tutorials and are there any articles or something out there that kina explain everything?

Thanks,
Coby

have you take a look at Ableton manual in some case, for the start? :)

yet this forum is a good way to start, so you did start, now ask question by question, say a little bit how do you perform now, and from there we can go on :)

i strongly recommend you to after you define yourself what you want to do, and then chose the equipment ;)
