Laptop Stolen

Post by monkeysee » Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:50 pm

Hey guys, my laptop was stolen last night, i had live 821 on it which i bought a couple of months ago, is there any possibility of ableton being awesome and giving me a new download?
and yes i realise that if it was anything else you would have to pay for it again so please spare me, im just asking in case.
Thanks, Shane

well, you can have two installs at the same time anyway. but why bother asking in the forum? ask ableton's support.

What's up with this nonsense? The license allows you to install Live to 2 computers as long as you don't run them simultanously. Just download it again and feed your license code. In case you need more than those 2 installs you have to contact support and ask them to unlock.

I was unaware that not knowing something was considered nonsense these days, i thought only the disc version allowed 2 installs, my bad. but im happy to hear i can download again, so ehh, thanks i guess. 8)

My experience with Ableton's support is they are more than willing to grant licenses - for paying customers - for all kinds of usual and unusual circumstances.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Not to nitpick semantics, but you can install and run Ableton Live on as many machines as you like (in demo mode). It's the authorizations that are limited. And yes, Ableton HQ are quite reasonable about reauthorizing.

On a side note, I'm sorry to hear your laptop was stolen. I recently had all of my music gear stolen (including my laptop), and it's something I don't wish on anybody. Good luck.

My laptop was stolen 2 years ago.

However, I found out my Home Insurance covered all my possession anywhere in the world.

I claimed the entire theft on my home insurance and got paid for the things that got stolen.
