Fade Out

Post by rpinon69 » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:53 am

Am I correct in saying that you fade out your entire song in the master track with the mixer/track volume parameters or is it done in individual tracks within the track clip with some type of envelope?

Thanks

Hi,

You can do it either way.
It depends on whether you want to fade all tracks simultaneously or not.

Simultaneously - Master track volume envelope.

Individually - Individual track volume envelopes. Good for fading some tracks before others for a more complex overall fade.

You just need to draw in your envelopes to suit.

You can't draw in envelopes in detail on the master track as in a individual clip. Or can you?

It works just like any other track. It's Mixer/Track Volume.

Another way of automating the volume is to add a Utility plug-in to a track and automating it's Gain. This way it leaves the volume slider for adjusting the overall volume of the track. This is especially useful if you have the volume sliders mapped to something on a midi controller.

I use my Axiom 25 for track volume, stop, play and record functions, but never have tried using the utility tool. Maybe if I explain exactly what I'm trying to do.

I mainly record songs with my guitar, bass, Superior Drummer and some virtual instruments with Axiom. What I want to master is having guitar solo's or harmony parts fade in or out and possible at the end of the song rather than a dead stop.

Thanks

Is there any way to use the draw tool or right click that puts in a preset curve for a quick or slow fade out?

Thanks
